Merchant Tea & Coffee

LOROC Architects was commissioned to provide a coffee and tea retail outlet which is within the Old Town Hall, St. Albans a Grade II listed building. The development involved close negotiation with the Local Authority, Conservation Office and English Heritage. LOROC Architects assisted in developing the brand identity from an approved concept from previous outlets in Australia to meet the requirements of the UK and European markets. The scheme had to be developed in harmony with the existing interior and all fixtures and fittings are demountable so not to affect the existing finishes. A focal area was created and important features, such as the ornate ceiling, were highlighted by the use of light.
